Enrollment Instructions

(This document can be downloaded here)

Commencing Tuesday, March 23, 2010, we began posting “Enrollment Invitations” on the website, listing by grade the students who were invited to complete and return enrollment paperwork. This process will continue each week until mid June. (See below for detailed information regarding posting dates.) We identify each invited student by their respective application number. Those students are then required to return the following enrollment documents to the front office of the school not later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday of the same week the invitation is posted:

1. A fully completed “Student Information Packet” (which can be printed from a link on the “Invitation to Enroll” page on the website).
2. Your child’s Birth Certificate.
3. A current immunization record for your new student.
4. For Kindergarten only: Proof of Vision Screening prior to entering Kindergarten.

Turning in this paperwork is your acceptance of the “Enrollment Invitation”.

After the March 23rd posting, we intend to make a similar posting of “Enrollment Invitations”
every Tuesday by the close of business, and concluding those weekly postings on Tuesday,
June 15, 2010. For each of those postings, the deadline to return the enrollment documents
listed above to the front office of the school is the Friday immediately following each
posting, by 4:00 p.m.
During this period if there are no known openings, the posting may simply state, “none”,
but we will make a posting of some kind on the website every week as we work to fill each
available position up to our enrollment cap of 525 students.

After a summer break during which the school will be closed, we will resume posting “Enrollment
Invitations” in August. August is typically an active enrollment month in which we learn from some
parents that they are not retuning to the school as they had previously planned, and more positions become available. For this reason, we make more frequent “Enrollment Invitations” postings and we accelerate the deadline to return enrollment documents. During the month of August 2010, we will list “Enrollment Invitations” posting by 12:00 noon on Mondays (starting August 2nd, 2010, and the required enrollment documents must be returned no later than 12:00 noon the following Wednesday, 48 hours later. We will then list an additional “Enrollment Invitations” posting each Wednesday by 4:00 p.m. (starting August 4th), and the required enrollment documents must be returned no later than 4:00 p.m. the following Friday, 48 hours later. This process will continue until the first day of school, August 23rd. If any further openings come available after school starts, “Enrollment Invitations” will be made by phone.

If your application number is listed and you fail to return your enrollment documents by the
deadline, your child’s name will be removed from the lottery and the place reserved for your
child will be given to another child on our waiting list.
Note that you will not receive an email,
phone call, other direct communication of an “Enrollment Invitation”. The “Enrollment Invitations” will be posted on the website only and it is your responsibility to monitor the website to see if your child’s application number is listed. We encourage you to go ahead now and prepare the enrollment documents to ensure that you meet the deadline.

If you have any questions regarding application and enrollment at Canyon Rim Academy, please send an email to lottery@canyonrimacademy.org rather than contacting the front office of the school.

Update Regarding Students with Enrollment Preference

“Intent to Return” forms were distributed to existing students in January and have been returned. The “Intent to Return” form is not binding, but determines how many positions to reserve for returning students. In addition to returning students, siblings and children of teachers receive an enrollment preference, and we have reserved positions for each of those prospective students. (See our Guidelines for Application and Enrollment, posted on the website.) Please note that parents of siblings attending Kindergarten in 2010-2011, or siblings desiring to attend in other grades will be notified regarding instructions for enrollment.
