My teaching philosophy is inspired by the diversity of my life's experiences. Before I began teaching in the Granite District seventeen years ago, I was a professional violist and then a general contractor/carpenter with an all-female crew in Boston. After an idyllic childhood in Oregon, I have lived in places as varied as the Australian barrier reef, central Tokyo, and the Italian countryside.
I graduated from Antioch College in 1974 and received my education degree from Westminster College. This past year, while on leave from my teaching position, I was an observer at public schools with innovative and successful programs in Massachusetts, Oregon and Peru. By incorporating new ideas in education with some of the activities I have traditionally employed, such as teaching the violin and producing Shakespeare plays, I try to provide my students with a stimulating and challenging education.
My husband Jerry is a talented violinist, and my two fabulous grown-up kids, Kate and Jacob can make me laugh more than anyone else.
