Hello! My name is Susan Garrett, and I have been part of the Canyon Rim Academy family since 2008. During my time here, I have had the privilege of teaching students in the computer lab, helping them develop computer and technology skills while also serving as the school's Assessment Director.
I am thrilled to begin a new chapter for the 2026–2027 school year as Canyon Rim Academy's Technology Specialist. In this role, I will continue supporting technology throughout the school while also coordinating and administering RISE and WIDA assessments. It is an honor to serve in this capacity, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work at Canyon Rim Academy. I have a deep love for this school, its students, and the wonderful community that surrounds it.
I grew up in Bountiful, Utah, and earned my degree in Business and Computer Education from Utah State University. I began my teaching career at Woods Cross High School, where I taught for eight years before taking time to stay home and raise our four children. During those years, I also had the opportunity to teach preschool in my home for eight years, which was an incredibly rewarding experience.
My husband and I have four children—three daughters and one son. Three of our children attended Canyon Rim Academy, and our oldest attended when it was still Canyon Rim Elementary. We are also the proud grandparents of five wonderful grandchildren, including twin grandchildren who live in Michigan. I absolutely love being a grandma, and spending time with my grandchildren is one of my greatest joys.
We live in the Canyon Rim neighborhood, and I truly appreciate what an exceptional school and community this is. I am especially excited about our beautiful new school and all of the opportunities it will provide for our students and staff.
Technology has always been one of my greatest passions. I love exploring new tools, discovering innovative ways to use technology in education, and helping students and teachers use technology to enhance learning. This new position is a perfect fit because it allows me to continue learning while supporting our school's commitment to providing meaningful technology experiences for every student.
I look forward to partnering with our teachers, students, and families as we continue to build a positive, engaging, and innovative learning environment. It's going to be an exciting year, and I can't wait to see all that we accomplish together!
